Getting permission before going further into a cold call is crucial, and once you’ve got the go-ahead from your prospect, it’s time to make your conversation engaging. In a previous podcast, I shared some effective ways to secure a prospect’s permission for a brief chat.

As mentioned recently, one powerful approach is to highlight your credibility by mentioning services or products you’ve provided to others in their area or industry. Now, let’s delve into how to follow up on that and make the conversation compelling.

After establishing your credibility, consider taking a conversational route by posing a seemingly innocent yet powerful question:

  • [Name], I’m not sure if these areas concern you too, but I wanted to reach out and find out.
  • [Name], I’m unsure if you’re also looking to enhance your [area] in these aspects, and that’s why I’m reaching out to learn more.
  • [Name], what we’ve recently done for one of your competitors might be something you’re interested in. I thought there was no harm in reaching out and finding out. Does that sound fair?

These types of questions, when posed early on in a cold call, can effectively lower the prospect’s guard, spark their interest, and provide you with an additional minute or two to delve deeper into the conversation.
